Spring 2022 Virtual Intern, Ad Sales Research

The Job
We are seeking a talented and ambitious collegiate interns to be part of the CNN Ad Sales Research or WarnerMedia Entertainment and Portfolio Ad Sales Research teams.

CNN Ad Sales Research
This role supports Sales and Marketing in communicating the value of CNN to the digital advertising marketplace. This intern will learn from the CNN Ad Sales Research team in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is a storyteller who is comfortable with different kinds of data. The ideal intern should have an eye for detail and accuracy. Job duties include:

  • Develop a deep understanding of CNN’s digital platforms and advertising offerings
  • Learn about market and advertising research, including key tools like comScore, YouGov and social tools
  • Identify key industry trends and research for insights that contribute to the CNN story
  • Utilize different types of data to identify key performance trends and audience insights
  • Assist in the positioning of Sales deliverables, including RFP requests, client presentations, Marketing support, and CNN-positioning decks

WarnerMedia Entertainment and Portfolio Ad Sales Research
The intern will work with the team to analyze linear and digital performance for our brands as well as the competitive landscape. The intern will transform data into actionable insights for the linear and digital sales teams. 

Responsible for regular reporting needs, the intern will work closely with our analysts to monitor our brands on linear and digital content. The intern will assemble reports and analyses for WarnerMedia Cable Networks and Digital sites, Warner Brothers Syndication and Ellen Digital Ventures. Job duties include:

  • Pulling audience data 
  • Analyzing daily performance of programs 
  • Managing our internal databases 
  • Facilitating daily data downloads 
  • Creating historical tracks  
  • Category and industry monitoring and collection 
  • Newsletter Development 


The Essentials
  • Undergraduate or graduate student who is majoring in Statistics, Business, Marketing or some related field
  • Strong problem-solving skills, organized, and astute attention to detail
  • An insightful mind that can find the narrative in disparate sets of data
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain effective relationships with managers, sales clients, and internal team members
  • Results-driven and highly self-motivated
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and work on several time-sensitive deliverables
  • Comfort Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Passion for news and current events
  • Some knowledge of the digital and/or television ecosystems a plus

Internship Program
  • Students must be currently enrolled in a college degree program for the full duration of the internship
  • Spring 2022 program dates are January 24th - April 15th; must be available for full program duration
  • Part-time schedule (16-24 hours/week) designed to work around class schedule
  • Company-issued computer provided for the duration of the internship program.
