Job Captain

Job Captain (full-time; multiple positions available)
 
Job Captain(s) needed to work in New York, NY to work on more than half a million square feet of upscale amenities, trading floors, and workplace. Analyze client’s design intent, programming requirements and project complexities to create a feasibility report to provide design concepts. Apply technical skills to scrutinize compliance of planning with building codes and regulations. Coordinate with the project team to develop conceptual ideas and to create architectural sketches for design presentations. Work with the project team to select materials, technology and techniques that meet building and energy code requirements. Coordinate with design and engineering consultants to accommodate building systems within the architectural design for such disciplines. These consultants include structural designer, lighting designer, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) engineers, A/V, food service/kitchen specialist, code analyst, acoustic engineers and landscape architects. Analyze site survey of existing conditions to determine best approaches for completion of drawings to solve technical issues of design in relation to site condition, building structure, HVAC, electrical and plumbing system, fire protection and materials for intricate detailing. Manage project team to ensure satisfactory completion of project documentation and construction within project budget and schedule. Research technological advancements in the building and construction industry and apply to projects as applicable. Develop project documentation throughout the design and construction document phases. Develop architectural details to meet architectural design intent. Review bid proposals to confirm alignment between budget, documentation and design intent. Prepare filing package for construction approval from the Department of Building. Provide construction administration phase services including: detailed review of submittals, payment applications, substitution requests, change orders and requests for information; conduct and document site visits; resolve ongoing construction issues in construction meetings; Maintain design intent and timeline throughout the construction process. Work with sustainability team to improve building performance, environmental design and implementation in projects.

Must have a Master’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Sustainable Design, Interior Design or related field, plus two (2) years of design experience with all of the following:
(1)  Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign);
(2)  Bluebeam Revu;
(3) 3D modeling using Revit and SketchUp;
(4) translating architect's sketches and CAD documents into realized 3D models and images;
(5) working on all architectural phases of a project from Schematic Design to Design Development through Construction Documentation (floor plans, power-comm plans, RCPs, construction details, budget reviews, specifications) and Construction Administration, including the review of shop drawings and finish samples;
(6) working knowledge of building codes and regulations, agency standards, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques; AND
(7) preparing and submitting Department of Building filings.

In the alternative, we will accept a Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Sustainable Design, Interior Design or related field, plus five (5) years of progressive post-bachelor's design experience. Two (2) years of the five (5) years of progressive design experience must include experience with the following:
(1)  Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign);
(2)  Bluebeam Revu;
(3) 3D modeling using Revit and SketchUp;
(4) translating architect's sketches and CAD documents into realized 3D models and images;
(5) working on all architectural phases of a project from Schematic Design to Design Development through Construction Documentation (floor plans, power-comm plans, RCPs, construction details, budget reviews, specifications) and Construction Administration, including the review of shop drawings and finish samples;
(6) working knowledge of building codes and regulations, agency standards, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques; AND
(7) preparing and submitting Department of Building filings.

Must have valid Autodesk Revit Certification. Incidental telecommuting may be permitted.
