Digital Communications Specialist

The Digital Communications Specialist develops and executes the school’s social media strategy, coordinates asset collection for use by the Marcomm team, and manages internal communications initiatives for the school. Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing & Communications and working closely with stakeholders across the Marcomm team, the Digital Communications Specialist is a content creator and curator who oversees a variety of key external and internal efforts that support the school’s marketing and communications efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates photography, audio and video collection and disbursement.
  • Manages requests for photography, audio, video for the marketing department, our agencies, or other entities.
  • Assigns and schedules photographers and videographers and establishes cost allocation for each assignment.
  • Receives, labels, and posts digital assets once gathered.
  • Gathers talent release forms and approvals from those who appear in photos and videos (when required).
  • Maintains photo, video, and audio archives in a manner that allows for tagging and easy retrieval by others.
  • Maintains a lending library of audio/visual equipment for students and others to use.
Manages efforts to refresh and update digital assets and content required for the website and other Marcomm channels.
  • Oversees annual refreshing of student stories – photographs and stories.
  • Recommends and refreshes feature photos used throughout the website regularly.
  • Harvests photos and content from magazine and other publications for use on website.
  • Gathers, selects, sizes, retouches, and refreshes photos and bios that populate the people database—faculty, students, staff, alumni.
  • Updates pages/components that pull from the people database—e.g., Faculty Directory, Meet the Team, Student Stories, etc.
  • Manages our Digital Asset Management system for use by Marcomm team and external stakeholders
  • Manages video assets on YouTube and on website, in conjunction with Marcomm team members and other stakeholders within the school
  • Manages the online publishing platform used to display printed materials
  • Creates graphics as needed for use on website and other channels
Develops and Executes Schoolwide Social Media Strategy.
  • Manages all school-owned social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter, identifying and creating others as needed
  • Develops social media strategy and calendar for schoolwide and program-specific efforts in coordination with marketing team and program partners as needed
  • Creates graphics as needed for use on social media
  • Leverages insights to determine relevant metrics for success and adjust strategy as needed to achieve them
Manages Internal Communications Efforts.
  • Produces weekly internal newsletter with help from Faculty/Staff champions, in coordination with the Student Government
  • Produces monthly alumni newsletter in coordination with Development & Alumni Relations and other school stakeholders
  • Uploads, schedules, and assists with production of Lobby Monitor slides for Faculty and Staff groups
  • Proactively identifies events/milestones worth promoting on Lobby Monitors and produces collateral for display
  • Works with IT to roll-out new features on Four Winds to create more enticing and informative displays

Qualifications
  • A BA/BS plus 2+ years of relevant work experience is required
  • Experience with Photoshop or similar software, myEmma or other email marketing software, and WordPress or other content management system is required
  • Experience with Issuu, Digital Asset Management systems a plus
  • Experience executing paid marketing efforts through LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Google Search, and Google Display is preferred.
  • Experience with reporting and data analysis is preferred.
