Multiple Subject Teacher
BASIC FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE OF GRADES 4, 5, 6:
• Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, health, art, physical education and music to students, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities, materials and methods. May teach a foreign language to sixth grade students.
• Instruct students in citizenship, human relations, basic communication skills and other general elements of the course of study specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
• Provide planned learning experiences in order to motivate students and best utilize the available time for instruction.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom and take the responsibility for promoting student’s self-control.
• Evaluate student’s academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports and communicate with parents on the individual student’s progress.
• Identify student needs and enlist the aid of other professional staff members, psychologists and nurses in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems.
• Create with assistance from students a functional and attractive environment for learning through displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
• Maintain professional competence through participation in inservice education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
• Perform basic attendance accounting and business services as required.
