Engineering Leadership Program Advanced Thermal Systems Engineer

As part of this transformation, Carrier is revitalizing its approach and looking for a dynamic leader to lead our Research and Technology efforts and to align with the business needs to deliver new value for our customers.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a full-time engineer to join our Advanced Systems engineering teams at our location in Syracuse, New York. Selected students will get exposure to:

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, simulate, and validate thermal and thermodynamic models for a wide variety of applications with Carrier application portfolio
  • Develop skill set and adapt to learning new commercial codes (e.g., COMSOL, CFD, etc.) to help with a detailed physical understanding of thermal-fluid systems of interest
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop, build and test thermal systems in relevant testbeds and in controlled test environments.
  • Develop test plans, instrumentation plans, and develop data acquisition interfaces/ systems in support of advanced systems testing.
  • As applicable, support the Carrier technology pipeline through brainstorming, scouting, and interfacing with external partners through conferences, workshops, etc.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to be communicated to team members, technical fellows, and upper management.
Experience / Qualifications: 

  • Proven experience with the fundamentals of the design, modeling, and experimental validation of thermal systems, 
  • Exposure to the modeling and simulation of HVAC&R systems at component or system level through a combination of internally developed and/or commercial codes and 
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to a diverse area of technology areas
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident 
  • COVID-19 vaccines will be required for all newly hired Carrier U.S. Salaried employees 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications 
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills 
  • Self-driven and proactive 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities 
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels 
  • Team player and willing to collaborate with others on projects 
Education:

  • The ideal candidate will be a Master’s or Ph.D. level engineer in Mechanical Engineering (focus area is thermal systems engineering).
  • GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0 GPA 
  • Relevant coursework or previous internships preferred
