Morning Edition Intern - Summer 2022

NPR’s Morning Edition summer 2021 internship will be onsite.
Program Duration: May 31, 2022 - August 19, 2022
INTERN WILL LEARN AND BE EXPOSED TO: This internship will support Morning Edition, the most listened-to news radio program in the country.
Morning Edition takes listeners around the country and the world with two hours of multi-faceted stories and commentaries that inform, challenge, and occasionally amuse.
Our intern assists the show’s producers, editors, and hosts, by pitching stories, helping to book guests, and researching the issues behind the stories we cover.
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts research for daily stories and long-term projects
- Pitches story ideas at the daily editorial meeting
- Helps book interviews
- Logs recordings of interviews and events
- Assists in getting the program on the air, which includes performing routine administrative tasks
WHO CAN APPLY?
- LOCATION: This internship will be onsite at our Washington, DC office. But please note that there could be a need to pivot this internship to fully remote if pandemic related developments warrant that change.
- EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Newsroom experience preferred
- Audio production experience preferred
- Digital media skills, including proficiency in social media, preferred
- Knowledge of NPR programming required
SCHEDULE
- 40 hours a week, with the majority of the hours on-site. Flexibility available for some days off-site.
