Interior Designer

INTERIOR DESIGNER, LOCUST VALLEY, NY

Meg Braff Designs, LLC is seeking a full-time, Long Island based Interior Designer/project manager to lead on large scale design projects alongside the principal.
Responsibilities include developing schematic designs, drafting furniture plans and elevations, sourcing and preparing presentations, attending client and vendor meetings, and maintaining budgets and all schedules. The candidate should be knowledgeable of all vendors and showrooms, with experience in custom furniture and details. Must have experience in managing job sites, contractors, and installations.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented and passionate about the design process. Must be willing to travel to job sites as needed. Must be local to Locust Valley, NY or willing to commute from NYC 2-3 days per week.
The Interior Designer will perform the following tasks (but not limited to):
• Oversee all aspects of design projects from inception to installation.
• Create and develop schematic designs.
• Have extensive knowledge of residential trade and antique resources and use that knowledge to shop and research product, while also maintaining existing relationships with MBD vendors.
• Be the main point of contact for the client under the Principal, frequently communicate with clients with clear communication and a professional etiquette.
• Mentor and Supervise project managers, junior designers, and design assistants by reviewing details, check lists and their processes, and displaying effective leadership skills.
• Correspond with vendors on a daily basis regarding pricing, product details, specs, tracking etc.
• Spearhead, manage and execute all client presentations, including design concept, space planning, architectural elements, color schemes, fabric schemes, custom window treatments and custom furniture pieces. and attend client meetings.
• Draft floorplans, furniture plans, elevations, and electrical plans using AutoCAD.
• Create client proposals and detailed vendor purchase orders.
• Draw by hand or in AutoCAD, detailed spec sheets for custom furniture orders.
• Build comprehensive finish schedules: paint, lighting, hardware etc.
• Multi-task on various projects simultaneously, while ensuring accuracy and consistent quality of work.
• Experience with Excel or Google Sheets for creating budgets and project tracking.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Interior design degree, minimum of 5 yards design experience
• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel,Word, Powerpoint)
• Proficiency with AutoCad and interior design software such as Design Manager. Digital or hand rendering abilities are a plus but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate in a professional manner
