Director of Community

The Center seeks a full-time Director of Community to lead and execute the Center’s marketing and social media strategy. The ideal candidate will share our passion for increasing diversity in the media industry and educating its next generation of leaders. The Director of Community is a key member of a small team at a nonprofit that has a strong 40+-year history yet extraordinary growth potential. As such, the Director of Community should be entrepreneurial and excited to be part of an organization where you can contribute ideas, carve out new responsibilities, and play a vital role in the Center’s future. The Center provides an ideal platform for honing your professional marketing skills while being immersed in the media business and building relationships with our industry partners. This is a New York-based position that is currently a hybrid of in-person and remote.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop comprehensive marketing plans for Center forums, summits, fundraisers, and other initiatives with the goal to drive audience and engage speakers, partners, and funders
  • Write and design email newsletters to promote Center events, job opportunities, and other relevant news for our community
  • Develop and execute social media strategy across platforms
  • Update Center website including but not limited to event calendar, event pages, refreshing home page, and other content updates as needed
  • Review footage of all forums and summit sessions; work with freelance editor to create final edit and select clip selections for social media recaps
  • Hire and supervise our annual Cooper Leibner Fellow/editorial intern(s), who will work with the Director of Community to execute the social media strategy 
  • Contribute ideas for potential speakers and program topics, help shape programming

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 3-5 years experience
  • Strong knowledge of the media industry and keen awareness of current trends
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be available for occasional evening events
Salary commensurate with experience.
