PEO Maritime Internship (Engineering) - Summer 2022

Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Internship Job Description 
Organization: 
NAVSEA has numerous field activities geographically dispersed throughout the country that are providing the engineering, scientific, technical and logistical expertise, products and support to the Fleet, Department of Defense, and other customers. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City (NSWC PCD), located Panama City Florida supports Naval Special Warfare Command’s (NSWC) Undersea programs. NSWC PCD is NSWC principal research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E), sustainment and engineer activity for NSWC’s SEAL Delivery Vehicle (SDV). The SDV is a free flooding submersible that is launched and recover by a host submarine and conducts clandestine missions in denied or politically sensitive environment.
 
Responsibilities:  
To design, prototype, and test electrical circuits, conduct research related to technology topics, and consult with subject matter experts. Must be able to work independently or as a member of a team on assigned technology related topics. 
 
Requirements: 
− MUST BE ELIGIBLE FOR A SECURITY CLEARANCE 
− Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering 
− Junior or Senior level, with a current GPA of 3.0 or above 
− Experience with creating Arduino circuits 
− Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) is a plus 
− Software app experience on Linux, Android, Mac OS X or Ubuntu is desired 
− Must be willing to learn or be familiar with test equipment: multi-meters, spectrum analyzers, mixed signal O-scopes, Vector Network Analyzers, and RF power meters 
− Effective written and oral communication skills 
− Good planning and organizational skills- A high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm, and confidentiality. 
− Software app experience on Linux, Android, Mac OS X or Ubuntu is desired.
− Must be comfortable operating general shop tools

Time Commitment:  
− Hours of operation are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday 
− Position requires a minimum of 15 hours and a maximum of 20 hours during the Fall and Spring semesters, and up to 29 hours during the Summer semester. 
 
Rate of Pay:  
− $17.50 per hour
− Opportunity for follow-on internship and full-time employment based on performance
