Landscape Architect Intern

Upland Design creates outdoor spaces that engage people, invite a sense of exploration, and promote fun! Come to Upland to explore the world of public landscape architecture in the amazing Chicago area.

 

We specialize in public park design, sports fields, playgrounds, natural area development, streetscapes and public plazas. Our clients include Chicago Park District, Chicago Public Schools, and the City of Chicago. This is our 24th year creating public projects for communities in Illinois, Michigan and Indiana with all phases of site and project planning though construction administration.

As a result of our expanding business, we are growing our Plainfield and Chicago offices! The successful candidate(s) will have an understanding of planning and design for recreational spaces and natural resources. A great benefit of interning at Upland Design is the direct interaction with Firm Principals and other licensed Landscape Architects as well as senior associates. Project reviews and one on one meeting are part of the Upland philosophy as well.  

     

The ideal candidate(s) will meet the following requirements:

·       Seeking candidate working toward a Bachelor's in Landscape Architecture

·       Demonstrated knowledge of the design process

·       Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office Suite

·       Basic Midwest plant knowledge

·       An interest in how things are constructed

·       Valid driver’s license

·       Previous office experience is a plus

We are seeking fun, creative individual to join the Upland Design team for a summer or year-long internship. You will be exposed to various levels of the business-marketing, concept design and construction document development. Candidates should be open, energetic and will assist project managers to create engaging designs working with clients, allied professionals and the design team.
