Engineering Co-op - Procurement (WI)

our Opportunity:
Greenheck Group is looking for a highly motivated student to work from May - December 2022. In this role, you will work to reduce product costs, maintain project quality, and continuous product enhancements focused on quality, product design, and value engineering issues. This position will allow you to impact our business while learning about our company and culture. 
 
What you’ll be doing:
  • Serve as a technical resource for Greenheck’s Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Engineering Departments.
  • Aid in the location, qualification and approval of new suppliers.
  • Utilize Design for Excellence (DFX) tools during product development, redesigns and value engineering projects.
  • Communicate critical and significant attributes to suppliers in collaboration with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality.
  • Specify, justify, design and procure new or upgraded tooling and equipment to achieve productivity, quality and cost reduction goals
  • Work with Greenheck suppliers to resolve quality deficiencies, develop material specifications and assure consistent quality in materials and products used in our manufacturing operations.
  • Work to assure integration between Engineering and Procurement on new products and changes in purchased component design.
  • Develop inspection plans and design gauging / tooling for internationally sourced components with critical quality attributes
  • Interpret and review part drawings for appropriate, realistic and accurate tolerances and dimensioning
  • Analyze quality trends (field problems, CARS, supplier quality, etc) and implements corrective action steps.
  • Work closely with overseas and domestic suppliers to ensure Quality standards are met and maintained.
 
What you should have:
  • Enrollment in a related bachelor's degree program. 
  • On track to graduate in the next 3 years or less. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with solid modeling software and project management preferred.
