Court Reporter (PennLive.com)
PennLive.com is seeking a versatile reporter to cover major crime cases, legal issues and news about the workings of the court system in Pennsylvania.
The ideal candidate will understand how the legal system functions and how to interpret legal documents, such as lawsuits, indictments and court orders. The reporter will be able to wade through the voluminous court docket and find the stories with the most impact and be able to tell those stories through different platforms as warranted. The reporter will also be knowledgeable about issues in the court system and prolific at developing sources in that system.
We are looking for a reporter who is passionate about journalism and enjoys working with a team to develop news stories, investigations and enterprise, but who also knows how to deliver breaking news quickly and accurately.

The ideal candidate will be a reporter with a competitive instinct who thrives on being able to break news with exclusive and impactful stories.
The ideal candidate will have:
* A degree in journalism, communications or political science and at least 2 years reporting experience
* A proven ability to develop sources, including in the criminal justice system and law enforcement
* Strong reporting and writing skills
* An ability to cut through legal jargon and produce clear copy
* Ability to handle deadline pressure
* Solid social media skills
