Job Title: Woodworking Specialist
Reports to: Summer Camp Director
Incarnation Camp is a traditional sleep-away summer camp located in Ivoryton (Essex) CT on a beautiful 700-acre property with mile-long private lake.
IC is an independent not-for-profit organization. Our overnight camp is open to children ages 7-15 and has the distinction of being the oldest and longest continuously running co-ed summer camp in the United States. Since 1886, our mission has been to provide programs designed to engage campers in nurturing their physical and emotional growth. Through recreation, sports, nature, and arts programs, we create an atmosphere where campers can explore their interests while building character and friendships. Our campers and staff are a diverse group of people coming from all over the U.S.- and all around the world.
Work Schedule and Compensation:
June 5th - Aug 13th (10 weeks total)
Scheduled workdays range from 9:00 a.m. through 12:00 p.m. and pick back up from 2:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m. with the possibility of an evening activity going from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Periods of time off are given throughout the day.

Summary: Our Woodworking Studio is where we come to build birdhouses, shelves, art and have fun. We have a plethora of saws, sanders, tools for building, various nails and screws, wood, and more! Provide our campers with construction projects, entertain them with art and building, and engage their creative sides by teaching them how to use carpentry in a productive, safe and constructive way using our various tools. Safety being the number one priority.
Job responsibilities:
- Working with both overnight and day campers ranging in ages from 5 to 15 on week long and daily completion projects
- Instructing campers on how to build various projects out of wood (Birdhouses, shelves, boxes, sculptures)
- Keeping up with and encouraging campers to finish their projects
- Keeping our campers safe and knowledgeable using our woodworking tools.
- Improving our campers' constructive skills.
- Maintaining inventory and ordering woodworking supplies and equipment as needed.
- Helping to keep the Woodworking Studio organized, clean and safe.
- Making sure our Campers take home their work at the end of their camp stay
- Maintaining the tools and equipment.
- Being on-duty on a rotating basis.
Qualifications:
- Woodworking Experience
- Experience working with children
- Strong communication skills
- Strong people skills; good team player
- Able to work flexible hours in a residential setting
