Leading Men Program Associate
POSITION: The Literacy Lab is seeking a hard-working, organized, resourceful, full-time Program Associate to support its Leading Men Fellowship programs and operations in Metro Atlanta, GA (the “Atlanta LMF Program Associate”). The LMF Program Associate ensures successful implementation of The Literacy Lab’s programs by supporting staff, coaches, Fellows, partner school sites, and programmatic operations.
The LMF Program Associate also supports recruitment, social media, and other organizational operations. ABOUT THE LITERACY LAB: The Literacy Lab is a fast-paced, national nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide low-income children with individualized reading instruction to improve their literacy skills, leading to greater success in school and increased opportunities in life. We partner with school districts to add capacity in high-need schools to close the literacy achievement gap for children before third grade.
The Literacy Lab’s Leading Men Fellowship, creates college and career opportunities for young men of color, while increasing representation in the field of education. Leading Men Fellows are young men of color who have recently graduated from high school and participate in a year-long, residency-style experience in which they provide evidence-based literacy support to pre-kindergarten students while receiving robust coaching and professional development and gaining valuable experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Atlanta LMF Program Associate reports to the Atlanta Leading Men Fellowship Program Manager and is responsible for the following:
- Supporting the implementation of The Literacy Lab’s programs and ensuring that Fellows are successful and have a positive experience in the program
- Working with Literacy Lab staff to plan and organize the Leading Men Fellowship Ascend training institute and ongoing training and support for Fellows and Coaching Specialists
- Helping to ensure that Fellows and Alumni have ample opportunities for additional service, meaningful professional development, leadership, and community building
- Managing projects to completion with limited supervision from Program Manager
- Managing components of the recruitment of a diverse team of high-performing Fellows Coordinating LMF digital and social media strategy within the Metro Atlanta region
- Monitoring Fellow data entry for timeliness and accuracy
- Managing onboarding paperwork, files, timesheets, and other LMF program elements
- Preparing, reviewing, proofreading, and adapting written documents and presentations for meetings and events
- Preparing meeting agendas, creating positive meeting environments, taking notes, and tracking necessary follow-up tasks from meetings and events
- Performing general office duties including managing information systems such as SalesForce, Paycom, OneDrive, Google Drive, receipts, and hard copy files to organize information and make it easily accessible
- Assisting with day-to-day tasks such as mailings and deliveries, ordering supplies, arranging food for trainings/events, and other program and coaching needs for the office
- Conducting other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: We are seeking candidates with:
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail and deadlines
- The ability to work flexibly and independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude
- Strong professional communication skills and the ability to connect well with others to accomplish tasks
- A deep commitment to closing the achievement gap
- Experience in education and/or with high-need communities is preferred
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2010 (or later) software, especially Word and Excel
- Bachelor’s Degree or college degree-seeking applicant, preferred
- Social Media experience, preferred
WORK LOCATION: This position will be based in Atlanta, Georgia.
TRAVEL: This position may require out-of-town travel with notice for training, staff events, and conferences.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: The salary range for this position is $40,000-$43,000. Benefits include a flexible work environment, employer-paid health and dental insurance, employer-paid short and long-term disability, employer-paid life insurance, a 403b retirement plan, and paid vacation.
