Procurement/Sourcing Specialist

How will you make an impact?

Procure materials and services in accordance with established policies and procedures to support Commercial Operations requirements. Use global and regional agreements where appropriate to support site spend and develop in-depth knowledge of suppliers in assigned category, including product cost drivers. Develop understanding of site demands and sourcing constraints. Act as primary point of contact with external vendors, focusing on cost savings opportunities, contract implementation, negotiation and maintenance, sourcing, costing, and vendor relationship management. This strategically focused role will support internal customers, corporate initiatives, and be the escalation point for any vendor issues including quality and service. Manage category with sensitivity to inventory levels, pricing, agreements, and Total Cost of Ownership

What will you do?

  • Support Client Services team to ensure materials or services are acquired to successfully meet the site requirements in a timely fashion, at or below established quoted price with consideration given to inventory policies, and at the necessary quality requirements.
  • Develop and manage Commodity Strategies to support overall goals for performance including Right First Time, On Time in Full Delivery, Purchase Price Variance savings targets, and Quality Assurance.
  • Monitor the performance of the supply base and initiate/monitor improvement plans where necessary
  • Prepare material quotations for future business opportunities.
  • Negotiate and support multi-year Corporate and local Supply Agreements.
  • Review and negotiate price increases or decreases with Supply Base to achieve Purchasing savings and PPV goals/objectives
  • Evaluate the marketplace for supplies and services and maintain knowledge of supplier processes, capabilities and capacities.
  • Identify, solicit, and implement opportunities for cost savings (materials, vendor managed inventory, freight, etc). Participate on commodity spend teams.
  • Build and maintain positive vendor relationships through open & timely communication, on-site supplier visits/audits, regular performance feedback, and conflict resolution in a timely and professional manner
  • Participate and /or provide information to Process Improvement teams.
  • Participate on product launch teams
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to procedure and policies to increase purchasing effectiveness and educate internal customers in these policies and procedures.

How will you get here?
  • BS/BA required; preferably with a business or technical emphasis.
  • Minimum 2 years of purchasing/supply chain experience in related field, preferably within a manufacturing/ pharmaceutical environment
  • Certification desired (CPM)
  • Strong computer skills (SAP, Microsoft Word and Excel etc)
  • Must be well-organized and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented, able to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, analytical/problem solving, and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Demonstrated commitment to our fundamental principles of Integrity, Respect and Excellence
  • Proficiency with the English language
