Position Summary
Univision WLTV Miami is seeking an experienced reporter eager and able to cover the multifaceted aspects of the vibrant South Florida community, going in-depth in every assignment, while making sure the service provided to the audience goes beyond expectations. We are looking for a dynamic, creative, digital savvy General Assignments Reporter who think outside the box, have vision, solid news judgment, ability to multitask while on deadline, and communicates clearly and effectively in front and behind the camera.

Job Responsibilities
·      Research, report and write in Spanish on compelling daily news, features and in-depth stories for our multiplatform
news products.
·      Responsible for news gathering in the field working closely with photographers, producers, and assignment editors.
·      Cover breaking news with urgency and accuracy
·      Cover weather related stories, including Extreme Weather situations
·      Report live, from the field and in a studio setting, as needed.  
·      Produce special reports/series as needed.
·      Support our digital efforts on all of platforms with content generation, push alerts, social media postings, and other
digital tasks as needed.
·      Use Social Media tools daily to enhance and promote our product and brand.  Scan and leverage social media with
our viewers, law enforcement, nonprofit organizations, and other local agencies.
·      Make phone calls, seek out eyewitnesses, track court dockets for key cases, and demand public records, including
Videos when needed.
·      Post error-free, basic stories, to our digital platforms, including pushing content to social media.
·      Public appearances at station promotions, community, and school events on behalf of the station when necessary.
·      Some travel might be required.
·      Other duties and projects as determined by the News Director 

Required Skills & Experience
·      BS/BA OR MA in Communications, Journalism, or related field required.
·      Minimum 3 years of experience in TV Reporting. Experience as a Reporter in Spanish language broadcasting is required.
·      Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. 
·      Must be bilingual in Spanish and English with excellent verbal and written communications skills.
·      Excellent and grammatically accurate Spanish language skills – both written and oral - required. 
·      Must communicate clearly, concisely and in a compelling manner using audiovisual tools and in writing
·      Ample knowledge of television production and News gathering equipment and computer systems required.
·      Must be able to find and follow leads and nurturing sources.
·      Must be able to conduct Live presentations and interviews, with strong accurate improvisation skills
·      Must be able to carry a question-and-answer session with guests or anchors during live newscasts.
 
 
·      Must have strong story-telling skills and on-camera presence
·      Must have the ability to pitch and produce stories daily
·      Must be a highly motivated individual, with strong work ethics and outgoing personality
·      Must possess the ability to handle simultaneous tasks, working well in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines, while handling stress and pressure appropriately
·      Strong organizational skills, with ability to identify problems and develop solutions
·      Full grasp of social media and online reporting, including stories in video, pictures, and audio, for multiple platforms
·      Demonstrable experience building online audience required.
·      Solid knowledge of journalistic ethics and libel laws required.
·      Ability to work efficiently with limited supervision is a must.
·      Ability to follow directions, rules, and regulations, with work ethics and discipline, required
·      Ability to use creative storytelling tools to show and tell stories when needed, required

Desired Skills & Experience
·      Candidates with long experience and/or coming from big markets, preferred.
·      Should have a thorough knowledge of current local, regional, national and international affairs, with emphasis in Latin American issues. 
·      Ample knowledge in South Florida movers and shakers, local and regional current events is a plus.
·      Self-starter, organized,
·      Large numbers of followers in main Social Media Platforms preferred.
·      Ability to use mobile technology, including cell phones and tables as tools to process and transmit information preferred
·      Ability to summarize, get to the point, and using solid arguments when arguing concepts with interviewees, coworkers, and supervisors, is a plus
·      Ability to use basic graphic design and/or animation software, is a plus
