Main purpose of job:
The British Embassy is looking for a Recruitment Officer for our Americas Regional Human Resources Team located in our Washington, DC office. This position requires an enthusiast, detail oriented person who is capable of communicating with and influencing individuals at all levels of the organization.
The role of the Regional HR Team is to provide key HR Services including recruitment, pay and reward, talent and performance management and general HR support to customers across the region (North & South America, Caribbean, and Overseas Territories). The HR Regional Team forms an integral part of the global HR infrastructure to staff working in the overseas network for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and will lead on all region specific HR issues in collaboration with the London based HR Directorate.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Carry out the full life-cycle recruitment process for a wide range of positions across the region to include posting, resume review, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, making offers, etc.
- Demonstrate high quality customer service while working with Hiring Managers and ensure each has a thorough understanding of our recruitment and interviewing best practices
- Manage and build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders throughout the recruitment process by communicating effectively and taking initiative to deliver an effective recruitment
- Collaborate with Hiring Managers to gain a thorough understanding of the vacancy, recruitment actions and advertising strategy required to have a successful campaign
- Ensure recruitment processes are meeting business need by following appropriate procedures and completing all assigned tasks within allotted response and completion deadlines defined by our Service Level Agreements
- Assist with the design and execution of recruitment campaigns to ensure the best person is engaged and hired for the role
- Act as a point of contact for candidates throughout the recruitment process
- Keep impeccable records and documentation of each recruitment process
- Perform other related duties as required
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- 1-3 years relevant work experience in a professional work setting required
- Bachelor’s Degree OR equivalent experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
- Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle confidential employee issues/information and interact with employees in a professional and sensitive manner at all times
- Proficient in all MS Office applications, especially Word and Excel
