Fall 2022 Virtual Intern, CNN Product Analytics

The Job
Product Analytics is a collaborative team that sits within the Analytics & Science function of the Data Intelligence group. We are equally adept leveraging our technical skills as we are breaking down statistical insights to our non-technical stakeholders. The Product Analytics team strives to understand the CNN Digital audience and measure the success and impact of new features, while ensuring tracking is in place and insights are accessible.
 
We are looking for a motivated and curious intern to join our Product Analytics team. Using their keen product sense and analytical rigor, this person will partner with Product, Engineering, Data Platform, Product Science, Design, and Business Operations peers to first understand the business and identify opportunities to improve how we understand consumer engagement. This can take the form of deep dive analyses, feature experimentation, and self-serve analytics reporting for cross-functional teams. As a member of small team, the intern will get to work directly with stakeholders delivering impact and shaping the role of data throughout the organization.
 
The Daily
  • Contribute to high-priority workstreams within the CNN Digital Product organization; your work and product sense will help shape the direction of data products and analyses across CNN’s core platforms and product areas
  • Develop a set of learning goals to be incorporated into daily responsibilities
  • Hone technical and analytics skills working closely with stakeholders to define and deliver effective analytical solutions (self-service data platforms, dashboards, experimentation design)
  • Develop strong relationships with peers and cross-functional teams to thoroughly understand the product and deliver sharp insights
  • Collaborate across multiple functions and tackle the analytics process end to end from cleaning and transforming data to analysis and presenting insights

The Essentials
  • Proficiency in a technical language e.g. SQL, Git, and R or Python
  • Familiarity in one or more visualization tools, such as Looker/Mixpanel/Tableau/Mode, or willingness to learn
  • Academic experience in a quantitative discipline
  • Interest in product analytics or news media
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms

Internship Program
  • Students must be currently enrolled in a college degree program for the full duration of the internship
  • Fall 2022 program dates are October 3rd – December 9th; must be available for full program duration
  • Part-time schedule (16-24 hours/week) required
  • Company-issued computer or secured remote access provided for the duration of the internship program.
