Communications and Graphic Design Internship at Immigration/Refugee Center (Fall 2022)
At this time, our office is open in a very limited capacity and for staff and volunteers only, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For Fall 2022, this internship will likely follow a hybrid model of both remote and in-person work. However, we are open to considering fully remote applications for those who may be interested in this option.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Rian Immigrant Center, located in downtown Boston, Massachusetts, is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Communications and/or Graphic Design intern to become an integral part of our vibrant communications team. Learn and use your skills to develop our social media presence (including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn), maintain our website (WordPress), help create our marketing materials using your Graphic Design skills and knowledge, and contribute to all other communications efforts.

COMPENSATION
We are glad to assist with any requirements to qualify an eligible student for academic credit. We may be able to offer a partial monthly stipend for interns who can work 20+ hours a week
TIME COMMITMENT
10+ hours per week, between Monday and Friday - willing to work with class/work schedules and hours are negotiable. We are closed on the weekends so the internship will take place between Monday and Friday.

RESPONSIBILITIES can include…
Social Media
- Craft engaging and original social media posts to promote the mission and activities of the Rian Immigrant Center
- Support us in being a thought-leader and advocate on current immigration related issues
- Develop responsive and collaborative social media campaigns
Newsletter
- Support the production of our monthly online newsletter by writing about the immigrants we serve, our staff and volunteers, and the programs we offer
- Design the newsletter using our GetResponse templates
- Contribute to the development of our Executive Director’s weekly blog
Website
- Update our website with current events and stories from the Rian Immigrant Center
- Create images for web and update images on our website
- Support us in utilizing the website as a tool to reach potential donors, clients, and partners
Marketing
- Design marketing materials for our communications department (reports, social media, campaigns, newsletters, event invitations, etc) that adhere to brand guidelines (previous design experience preferred)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graphic design experience, and knowledge of Adobe Suite preferred
- Experience using and uploading media to Wordpress (not required but helpful)
- Excellent written communication and research skills
- Organization, attention to detail and time management skills
- Bilingual, or multilingual, helpful but not required
- Enthusiasm for the mission of the Rian Immigrant Center and a commitment to an understanding of social justice and anti-racism
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications
