Structural Project Designer

Job Summary
Inspecting and analyzing the performance of a building as it relates to the structural elements, building envelope and surrounding site conditions related to the overall aspect of building construction. Examine façade, roof, building construction and site elements related to their effect on the building’s overall performance. Review the ongoing work of contractors for the completion of project activities (field and office) and prepares design/repair packages and summary documentation (reports, correspondence, verbal communication) for Project Manager review. Utilize knowledge with design/analysis within related field (architecture/engineering). 

  1. Adhere to all Structures Group Accountabilities listed within the Appendix A
  2. Prepare design/analysis specifications and calculations for active projects are accurate and updated on active projects.
  3. Analyze schematic layouts of structural framing by using applied software for the analysis, interpretation and design of structural components
  4. Ensure contractors adhere to the contract documents (field/office) and prepares summary documentation for presentation with results of investigations.
  5. Prepare technical reports, ensuring structure and language utilized is easily understood by client and grammatically correct
  6. Assist and maintain project schedules, change orders and budgets.
  7. Perform other duties as needed and assigned. 

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or applicable work experience.
  • 0-3 years of Building Envelope assessment and/or design in support of various building projects and initiatives.
  • Understanding of processes, compliance, and other design consulting and construction professionals.
  • Adhere to all Structures Group Special Competencies and Certifications listed within the Appendix A.
  • Working knowledge of structural framing, building envelope, codes, zoning as they apply to egress, fireproofing, energy, waterproofing, occupancy and FAR.
