Technical Designer - Junior
Your Role
As a Gensler Technical Designer, you will collaborate with our Design Directors to develop design solutions as well as coordinate the design through the construction documentation phase of a project. You will be successful because you already know how to translate an architect's sketches and documents into realized 2D/3D models and images, and can research artistic and/or technical issues when they arise. What You Will Do
- Collaborate on design projects, including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, and design development
- Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
- Resolve complex technical and design issues
- Assist in managing client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination
- Provide project team coordination for the finished plans, specifications, and material selections required for construction
- Participate in the construction administration of projects and review of submittals and finish samples
- Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs
Your Qualifications
- 0-4 years experience designing multiple building typologies of varying scale
- Bachelor's degree in related field, with a rigorous design education
- Flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple projects in various stages of development
- Strong leadership, communication and relationship management skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Outstanding graphic presentation skills
- Revit skills are required
- Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch Up and 3-D Studio Max preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices required;
- Portfolios should include at least 1 project with this particular focus, and candidates should be prepared to talk to this in their interview, especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard , Fitwell and /or Net Zero Building certification
