Intern, Communications & Advocacy (Vaccine Acceptance & Demand)

Reports to: Senior Manager, Stakeholder Partnerships (Vaccine Acceptance & Demand)
 
Location: Remote Work (only in CO, FL, GA, IL, LA, MA, MD, NE, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, RI, VA, WA, DC)

The Intern, Communications, Vaccine Acceptance & Demand supports the communications activities and partnerships to support journalists covering vaccines in low- and middle-income countries of Sabin’s Vaccine Acceptance & Demand team.

Responsibilities:
 
Communications Support
  • Assist with the development and implementation of a suite of social media content, including graphics and other promotional materials
  • Support content creation
  • Represent Sabin at relevant communications coalitions/meetings/webinars and identify program opportunities
  • Assist with pulling website, social media and other metrics as assigned
 
Program Support
  • Assist with tracking of stories produced by journalists engaged with the program and of advocacy communications activities related to partnerships of health workers, journalists and researchers engaged by the VAD program, as well as testimonials of program participants
  • Work with team members to track program outreach
  • Other administrative support as needed
 
Requirements:
 
  • Current college student in a related discipline
  • Relevant coursework or experience, preferably in global health, public health, social science, journalism/media training, or international relations/development 
  • Demonstrated communications, social media or website assistance experience
  • Proficiency in core Microsoft 365 applications; experience with graphic creation platforms such as Canva, Spark or InDesign a plus
  • Demonstrated success drafting, proofreading and editing complex documents
  • Close attention to detail, ability to manage complex tasks; highly organized, flexible and able to prioritize in order to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communications skills (listening, writing, speaking)
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Must be available for 15 hours per week during the fall (September - December 2022) semester
  • Interest in supporting partners working in vaccine delivery, acceptance and demand in low- and middle-income countries
