Spring & Summer 2023 Mechanical Engineering Interns

SPRING & SUMMER 2023 INTERNS

M3 Design is a product development firm based in Austin, Texas. We craft and execute product development strategies for leading technology-based companies. The candidate will have the opportunity to hone their product development skills alongside professionals and participate in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The following duties and responsibilities can be expected:
 
•            Show strong personal initiative and accountability while embracing a collaborative approach to design.
•            Shows the aptitude to work with minimal supervision.
•            This role will involve constant interdisciplinary collaboration and candidates must credibly present their ideas to a range of audiences.
•            Willingness to take direction from team/project leaders.
•            The candidate should assist engineers making solid models, drawings and other engineering documents.
•            Should execute tasks assigned by lead mechanical engineers including developing CAD drawings, supporting lab testing, and sustaining engineering type tasks.
•            Should evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, processes and criteria in preparation of engineering deliverables: calculations, specifications, reports and drawings.
•            Design drawings and bill of materials utilizing Pro/Engineer and/or SolidWorks.
 
The candidate can also expect one-on-one mentoring and coaching in product development skills such as top-down design, design for manufacturing, prototyping techniques, etc.

Skills you will need
You are familiar with design related tools: CAD (Creo or Solidworks), prototyping, testing, and engineering analyses. You have used analytical tools including FEA, custom spreadsheets, MATLAB, and MathCAD. You have built prototypes and learned from them. If you’ve programmed or used an Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or LabView, this is a plus.  You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, can work with minimal supervision, and are willing to take direction from project team members.

Experience / Education required:
You are working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Biomedical Engineering or have recently graduated. You have experience in solving design problems (for school or personal interest) through analysis and prototyping. You have a portfolio showing some of your projects and are passionate to learn.

Our Spring Internship typically begins in February through May (flexible dates)
Our Summer Internship typically begins May through July (flexible dates)
