Carrier Fire & Security Products is seeking a Electrical Engineering Intern for its Detector Electronics fire and gas detection business in Bloomington, MN!  Det-Tronics has been providing proven flame detection, gas detection and hazard mitigation systems for high-risk processes and critical industrial operations worldwide since 1973. The company designs, manufactures and commissions certified SIL 2-capable flame and gas detection solutions. Det-Tronics products carry performance and safety certifications from globally recognized third-party testing agencies and approval bodies.
Position Summary:
In this role, you will apply what you’ve learned in school to assist in the design, test, and documentation of printed circuit assemblies at the Detector Electronics. Your work assignments will be tailored to your strengths and interests, and may include electrical, and/or software design aspects. 
This position reports directly to the Continuation Engineering Manager, in collaboration with Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Approvals Engineers, and Firmware Engineers.
Specific responsibilities for this position include:

  • Assist the Electrical Engineers in the creation of schematics, PCBs, Test Plans, and PCA Documentation.
  • Work with the Test Engineering team to develop PCA Test requirements.
  • Assist with the implementation of new fixtures, processes, and equipment.
  • Support Product Lifecycle Management Project with respect to PCA design.
  • Perform prototype troubleshooting and analysis of test failures.
  • Use Oscilloscopes, multimeters, thermal chambers, logic analyzers, and other test and measurement equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with ECAD tools for schematic capture, layout and component library management is a plus.
  • Interested in Analog and Digital design.
  • MS Office proficient.
  • Lab skills in testing, troubleshooting, and repairing Electronics (PCB and Interconnect), Electro-mechanical, and mechanical equipment.
  • GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0 GPA 

  • Relevant coursework or previous internships preferred 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications 

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
