Pedestrian Modeling Intern - Summer 2023
Buro Happold is looking for a collaborative and enthusiastic Pedestrian Modeling Intern to join our inclusive and friendly team. This full-time pedestrian modeling internship offers an attractive pay rate and the chance to be part of a welcoming and diverse workplace culture.
As a flexible Pedestrian Modeling Intern, you will use pedestrian flow modeling, data analytics, and interactive simulations to optimize airports, museums, theatres, workplaces, stadia, campuses, and urban spaces.
To give you an idea of how this Pedestrian Modeling Intern role would look and feel, these are some things you could expect to do:
- Review design documentation, gather information of existing and planned conditions, and identify user categories, access/egress points, vertical connections, and potential security-related issues
- Define design scenarios and success criteria, perform capacity, visibility, footfall, journey time, and crowd density analyses, as well as day-in-life modeling and interaction potential analysis
- Perform facade optimization and interior daylighting, glare, and visual comfort analyses
- Be responsible for the development of a software toolkit, Agent-Based Occupancy Comfort Simulation (ABOCS)
To apply for this pedestrian modeling internship, you will need a degree in architecture or design and ideally some coursework in Pedestrian modelling. You will also require the following:
- Experience in programming languages such as Python
- Familiarity with using Rhino, Viswalk/Vissim, Legion, MassMotion or similar. (beneficial)
- The ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner
- An eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
