Energy Efficiency Manager (Hybrid in Miami)

Job Description


The Energy Efficiency Manager is responsible for fleet operational energy efficiency optimization, for tracking vessel operational fuel efficiency, including voyage-, hull-, technical- and hotel efficiency and for proactively looking for opportunities to reduce fuel consumption and costs across the fleet. This position is also responsible for developing performance reports, and KPI dashboards.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Tracking vessel operational fuel efficiency, including voyage execution, power plant efficiency, technical and hotel systems as well as provide call outs and recommendations as necessary
  • Responsible for the design, preparation and development of vessel performance reports to be reviewed during monthly fuel calls with the vessels and technical operations leaders
  • Responsible for leading these calls and for following-up on vessel performance related action items with the vessels
  • Act as SME as it relates to energy efficiency communicating and providing feedback to Technical Operations & shipboard leadership
  • Monitors energy efficiency levels by developing energy efficiency reports for different systems, including hull performance, power plant efficiency (SFOC), freshwater production, waste heat recovery systems, HVAC, etc. 
  • Responsible for hull performance analytics by performing various analyses on hull performance, including paint performance comparisons and providing support for hull maintenance decisions based on data analyzed and collected
  • Maintain a database of completed and planned energy efficiency projects
  • Conducts costs savings validations for completed technical upgrades, and fuel savings calculations for future projects. Consolidates information to create reports and recommendations
  • Perform periodic and ad hoc analysis of vessel fuel consumption, energy efficiency, KPIs and trending to enable more efficient vessel operations
  • Less than 25% with shipboard travel likely

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering
  • Master’s degree a plus
  • Technical shipboard operational experience (preferred)
  • 5 years of experience in relevant role (i.e. energy management, marine operations, energy project management or fuel & energy consumption)
  • Microsoft Office, advanced proficiency in Excel including look-ups, pivot tables and macros
  • Ability to handle large quantities of data, programming experience (Python, SQL) is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of marine bunkering operations, marine fuels, shipboard operations, energy efficiency, technical analysis, numerical/empirical modelling
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to completion
