Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, PLLC (ICE) is currently accepting applications for the Roadway Engineer Internship for the summer of 2023 for the Tampa, FL office. ICE is a full-service transportation consulting and design firm specializing in highways, bridges/structures, hydrology/hydraulic design, geotechnical engineering, and foundation testing, environmental documentation (NEPA) construction services, and aviation design. Our firm has grown to nearly 400 employees since its inception in 2005 which includes over 100 Licensed Professionals (PE, RLS, LG, & RLA), numerous Civil Engineering Graduates who are certified engineers-in-training, Utility Coordination Managers, fully equipped surveying crews led by a Licensed Registered Survey Manager, a construction management and inspection division of more than 130, and numerous CADD Technicians and support personnel. ICE is led by an Executive Committee and Management Team who have acquired more than 175 years of transportation engineering experience collectively. Position Summary:
The Roadway Engineer Intern will gain industry experience by working with the ICE Roadway team to collect and analyze data for the preparation of road and highway designs. The intern will perform roadway and highway design calculations, conduct investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks, and direct the preparation of design drawings and/or specifications. Job duties include roadway/surface design and other applicable design specifications as well as state and local design requirements. Job duties also include working with designers on isometric designs, assisting project managers on design review and permitting and evaluate proposed opportunities and advance proposal efforts on behalf of the company.
 
Desired Skills/Experience: 
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as an academic junior or senior in an accredited college degree program focused in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Prior internship experience is preferred, but not required
  • Demonstrated research skills and resourcefulness
  • Ability to work well individually and in a team
  • Demonstrated interest and ambition to learn and work in a competitive, fast-paced industry
  • Ability to work with project managers and engineers
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office suite, AutoCAD, MicroStation Inroads/Geopak, and/or OpenRoads
  • Excellent math aptitude
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Organization and planning skills
  • Knowledgeable in job cost, scheduling, safety, and construction concepts

Education and Experience Requirement:
  • Actively pursuing a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Experience with AutoCAD and other engineering/modeling software is desired
  • Strong MS Office skills required, Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Valid Driver's License with safe driving record
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder

Work Environment:
The position operates primarily in an office environment. Must be able to operate PC based systems at a workstation for 8 hours per day and overtime if needed. The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. Expected Hours of Work:
The work schedule is Monday through Friday up to 8 hours per day. The ICE offices are open from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The summer internship will run from mid-May to mid-August.
