Petroleum Engineer II-WEX or Petroleum Engineer III-WEX

Petroleum Engineer II:
Performs advanced engineering studies and analyses related to the exploration and production of oil and gas wells. Prepares volume and financial forecasts for new drilling, completion, and workover of wells. Forecasting methodologies integrate analytical and empirical analyses using reservoir simulation and modern data science methodologies. Information from all applicable petroleum disciplines need to be incorporated into analyses. Studies well performance to keep deliverability at a maximum efficient rate and reserve recovery at a maximum economic volume. Maintains producing properties at a maximum economic rate within governmental and contractual requirements. Designs and maintains project management control. Works on special projects with operations/drilling groups. Prepares individual well or field studies and economics for improving overall production operations. Assists exploration department in evaluating prospects or evaluating fields for potential development locations.

Petroleum Engineer III:

Maintains producing properties at a maximum economic rate within governmental and contractual requirements. Designs and maintains project management control while functioning as a project leader. Works on special projects with operations/drilling groups. Prepares individual well or field studies and economics for improving overall production operations. Assists exploration department in evaluating prospects or evaluating fields for potential development locations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:
Petroleum Engineer II:
-Requires a minimum of 3 years experience in oil and gas production engineering with experience in the design and execution of completions, recompletions and workovers. 
-Ability to apply scientific principles to analyze and solve problems. 
-Ability to gather, research, analyze data and prepare financial, statistical or analytical studies and reports using prescribed format . 
-Knowledge of engineering principles and practices. 
-Knowledge of petroleum engineering principles and practices. 
-Knowledge of oil and gas reserve estimation techniques. 
-Knowledge in oil and gas economics. 
-Knowledge of reservoir simulation.
-Experience coding in Python.
-Experience applying modern data science techniques. 
-Knowledge of natural gas well completion and workover operations.
-Skilled in relating interpersonally.

Petroleum Engineer III:
-Requires a minimum of 5 years experience in oil and gas reservoir engineering with experience in the design and execution of completions, recompletions and workovers.
-Ability to apply scientific principles to analyze and solve problems. 
-Ability to gather, research, analyze data and prepare financial, statistical or analytical studies and reports using prescribed format . 
-Knowledge of engineering principles and practices. 
-Knowledge of petroleum engineering principles and practices. 
-Knowledge of oil and gas reserve estimation techniques. 
-Knowledge in oil and gas economics. 
-Knowledge of reservoir simulation.
-Experience coding in Python
-Experience applying modern data science techniques 
-Skilled in relating interpersonally.
-Knowledge of natural gas well completion and workover operations.
 
REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: 
 
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met: 
 
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or 
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or 
Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
