Job Summary
The Account Manager for the Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy coordinates and executes marketing, media relations, and public relations projects that advance the objectives at college and division levels, which also contributes to the University's mission and goals.
- Develops and executes communications strategies, including marketing, media relations, and public relations, that advances the unit's individual goals while contributing to the University's missions and goals.
- Oversees marketing efforts for major Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy led events, in collaboration with the Office of Community Relations and Special Events, as needed. This includes large scale conferences like the annual NICE cybersecurity conference, and the annual Hemispheric Security Conference.
- Oversees all digital marketing as well as both organic and paid social media strategies.
- Manages the strategic communications team including the Junior Account Manager and other support staff. Delegates tasks to promote effective execution of all projects and campaigns.
- Writes news stories in conformance with University guidelines. Assists with other printed and online materials being prepared on behalf of the Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy including advertisements and videos.
- Revises and copyedits materials prepared on behalf of the Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy. Drafts speeches, op-eds and columns for leadership.
- Maintains frequent contact with the Green School communications team, academic and administrative officers as well as the greater University. Maintains flexibility and sensitivity to establish and maintain necessary rapport with all levels of personnel and external constituencies.
- Engages with Spanish speaking entities in Latin America in efforts to enhance the educational partnerships and marketing initiatives for the Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy.
- Handles confidential matters concerning the assigned unit, the untimely disclosure of which would be detrimental.
- Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Media/Public Relations, Communications or appropriate degree and three (3) years of experience in a related field.
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to communicate in Spanish.
- Experience with event marketing and public relations.
