Legal Intern
POSITION SUMMARY
Bloomin’ Brands, the parent company to Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, and Aussie Grill, is seeking a law student who is currently a rising 3L or third year in an accredited law school or university. This opportunity will allow a student to apply their education to practical business issues facing one of the world’s largest casual dining companies with more than 1,450 restaurants throughout 47 states, Guam, and 17 countries from the perspective of its legal department. This program is designed to provide students with a challenging, meaningful, and supportive internship experience that replicates the experience of being a full-time corporate attorney as closely as possible. This role will be worked 100% from our Tampa Restaurant Support Center. Our internship program will take place in the summer of 2023.
PRIMARY PROJECTS / TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Support in-house counsel in conducting legal research.
* Prepare or update 50 state surveys.
* Perform legal research utilizing both written and electronic sources.
* Prepare legal memos.
* Gather and compile facts and relevant case information.
* Review legal agreements.
* Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications.
* Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS
* Fundamental understanding of a professional office's concepts, practices, and procedures.
* Capable of operating standard office equipment and using, or being able to learn, required
software applications, including legal software.
* Strong research skills.
* Excellent communication and writing skills.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
* Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
* Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
* Provide a high level of customer service.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships
PREFERRED SKILLS
* Preference for students who have a background in food service or hospitality.
