Engineering Intern - Customer Quality

Customer Quality Engineering team at Lumentum interfaces
with top customers across the globe, acts as a voice of the
customer for internal organizations and drives zero defect
culture across cross-functional teams to exceed customer
expectations on quality.

Goals of the position:

  • Learn the application of fundamental quality tools in a high-paced technology environment
  • Develop an understanding of data-driven quality management techniques
  • Drive improvements of the existing tools and systems towards higher integration of data and transparent reporting

Position Requirements:

  • Support Customer Quality Managers in reviewing Problem Resolution reports
  • Drive data quality initiatives for customer-facing processes
  • Develop and maintain data analytics tools
  • Develop automated reports for internal and external use
  • Examine current trends in key performance indicators in customer-facing quality processes:
  • Critical Customer Issue Resolution process
  • Product Change and Discontinuance notification
  • Return Material Authorization
  • Conduct regular process reviews with key functional teams, collect feedback on the current process, documentation, and tools
  • Prepare proposals for improvements to processes, documentation, and tools.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualified candidates will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or a related major. Students must be returning to school following the internship.

Desired Requirements:

  • 0-2 years in technical role, previous internship experience preferred
  • Student Membership in ASQ or other professional organizations is a BONUS
  • Technical (Computer) Skills:
  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel
  • Familiarity with JMP, Tableau, and JIRA

Hourly Range: $23.75 - $54.50

Disclaimer: Final base salary for the intern candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to, job location, where work will be performed, qualifications, work history, year in school and relevant experience.
