Engagement Specialist - Early College

Job Summary

Works in collaboration with the Campus Engagement and Office of Admissions teams to engage PSEO students, both residential and commuter, to reach full matriculation as Bethel CAS students. Providing support and engagement opportunities including events and one-on-one meetings to junior and senior PSEO students.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engagement opportunities for on-campus and commuter PSEO students included but not limited to events, study sessions, meals, attendance to Bethel activities and sporting events, etc.
  • Provide individualized one-to-one connection and support opportunities through relationship development and communication w/ students enrolled as PSEO juniors or seniors; provide support to students as part of Student Life’s Student Care process.
  • Build partnerships with on-campus resources to engage PSEO students with on-campus supports including but not limited to Admissions, AESC, OARS, Student Life, Library, Christian Formation, etc.
  • Provide leadership to Welcome Week Transitions Committee alongside the Associate Dean for Campus Engagement, including leadership training and development of student leaders and oversight and implementation of Welcome Week programming, including PSEO Orientation, for PSEO students and their families.
  • Re-recruit students currently enrolled in Bethel’s Online PSEO program and Partnerships for re-enrollment in CAS after high school graduation. This includes relationship development, financial aid counseling, and navigating steps to enrollment for a large percentage of the PSEO student pool. 
  • Complete administrative work and documentation of ongoing status of prospective students which includes: documenting all incoming and outgoing communication, detailing personal communication plans, and recording admissions process toward enrollment within the university database.
  • Work closely with the Office of Admissions for oversight and development of all aspects of strategic planning for PSEO recruitment and re-recruitment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Candidates must possess effective organization and communication skills and show attention to detail. 
  • Candidates must show proven ability to work with multiple tasks and projects well. 
  • Ability to plan and implement events and other programs.
  • Strong decision making and ability to guide clients through their decision making is essential. 
  • The successful candidate will have knowledge of Bethel University, particularly as it relates to the college’s mission as a Christian college and the ability to clearly present the benefits of Christian liberal arts education.   
  • Individuals should have strong skills in both written and oral communication, and the ability to motivate and understand the needs of prospective students. 
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, in a professional and confidential manner is necessary.
  • Ability to work with students and families of all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds assisting them with the admissions process.

Required Experience

2 years of experience emphasizing event management, public relations, sales, leadership and organizational skills with proven ability to facilitate varied groups of individuals and multiple projects. Prior experience in an educational organization is desirable. Experience in managing and developing a team required.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree required. A degree from Bethel University or another Christian college is preferred.

Additional Information

Must be willing to work non-routine hours as needed during certain times of the year. 
Must have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
