Sitka Fine Arts Camp, a leader in arts education, provides interdisciplinary summer programs for kids and adults from around the US and world. Sitka Fine Arts Camp’s (SFAC’s) Visual Arts Coordinator responsible for supporting SFAC’s summer programs administratively through a variety of duties including campus setup, management of classroom supplies and fulfillment of supply requests, coordination and setup of end of session visual arts showcases, ushering at evening shows, and providing general support for students, faculty, and other campus guests.
Title: Visual Arts Coordinator
Duration of Position: May 29 - July 31; Plan on arriving in Sitka on Monday, May 29th and departing on Monday, July 31
Camp operates on a 7-day per week schedule. Staff will be expected to frequently work on nights and weekends. Time off will be scheduled around the demands of the program.
Job Duties:
- Provide support to the daily activities of the students and faculty, primarily in the visual arts department, but also across disciplines
- Unpack shipment of season’s art supplies and sort by camp session
- Classroom set-up & supply distribution
- Assist faculty with prepping supplies
- Fulfill faculty supply requests daily
- Purchase local supplies as needed
- Coordinate 2 art shows with visual arts faculty
- Classroom clean-up & supply return
- Inventory art supplies at the end of the season
- Help with props at Musical Theater Camp
- Help with non-visual arts projects and events:
- Usher at concerts and performances
- Welcome students on arrival days
- Assist the events team with the Jazz on the Waterfront Gala & other events
- Help to coordinate the camp store (monitor inventory, pickup supplies, train counseling staff)
- Assist with staff-wide jobs including camp set up & clean up, laundry, making beds and light custodial work, as needed
Must have a good working knowledge of visual arts media, techniques, and art supplies as well as a valid driver’s license and be willing to learn to drive a 14 passenger van.
Sitka Fine Arts Camp (SFAC) staff help to make the summer run smoothly for students, faculty, staff, community members, volunteers, and visitors to the Sitka Fine Arts Camp.
SFAC Staff are expected to be helpful, responsible, and flexible members of our staff willing to work in any capacity with an enthusiastic and energetic attitude. SFAC Staff are expected to provide excellent customer service to all members of the campus community and to each other.
Compensation:
- $4,500 stipend
- Room on campus from the evening of May 29 through the morning of July 31
- Board on campus from dinner on May 29 through breakfast on July 31
- Access to the Hames Center (on campus fitness facility)
Travel: Staff are responsible for their own travel
