About Camp Augusta:
Camp Augusta is a nonprofit residential summer camp in northern California that offers a truly unique summer camp experience for campers and staff alike. We are focused on counseling skills, creativity, excellent programming, and camper choice - see more about the vision of our camp here.
Living and working for Camp Augusta for a summer can be a great opportunity for anyone who wants to work with children in the future or those who are currently studying education, psychology, sociology, outdoor recreation, or environmental education. We are also happy to co-design an internship (for credit) based on the skills and development you seek.
In addition to a summer salary of $4,000, staff also have all of their housing, utilities, and food provided for during their entire stay, as well as receiving other perks and benefits!
About Being a Counselor:
Discover the wish, wonder, and surprise of living with and supporting five campers in a cabin in the woods for the summer. Learn more than you ever thought you could about relating to children in a manner that empowers their growth and independence. Counselors will also serve as activity instructors and take the lead on maintenance for a few activity areas upon gaining experience. All counselors teach activities, but you tell us which ones you’re most passionate about — there are over 150 choices, plus your creative additions. See our ACTIVITIES page to get a taste of what we have to offer!
Our Drama Instructors bring the wonder of performing to our campers, developing their movement, speech, creativity and courage! Drama is an activity (or 'clinic' as we call them at Augusta) where campers can both be and not be themselves, and in doing so, learn more about themselves while having fun. Activities often include drama games, skits, reviews, and short productions. Campers also sometimes use this time to practice and receive coaching for our talent show, which occurs during two-week sessions. Campfire performances are always available for interested campers.
Other open positions include: Art Educator, Music Teacher, Ropes Course Instructor, Yoga Instructor, Backpacking Coordinator, Canoeing and Kayaking Instructor, Wilderness Trip Leader, Dance Instructor, Archery Instructor, Unicycle Teacher
