PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERN
We are looking for a public relations intern to support our communications team. In this role you will work closely with our on-site social media interns. You will be responsible for getting to know and building a rapport with the local youth sports and community reporters at each community newspaper. The goal is to have the local newspapers print your tournament news releases and upcoming promotional events. You will be the point man for engaging mascots, musical talent and other fun activities to entertain the fans and the little brothers and sisters that attend the tournaments.
To be a successful PR intern, you must be a confident public speaker and have the writing skills to support our social media marketing. Ultimately, an outstanding PR intern should be able to build relationships with the media and suppliers of marketing material, while constantly looking for ways to enhance our brand and boost the company’s corporate image.
Public Relations Intern Responsibilities:
- Support our communications and social media team
- Establish and implement a Public Relations strategy
- Create content for media releases, social media platforms, and newsletters
- Updating and staying in contact with social media administrators
- Building relationships with fans, players and the media
- Work closely with the marketing team scheduling and organizing of special events
- Conducting research on marketing initiatives of our company’s competitors
- Monitoring media coverage on events and media
Public Relations Intern Requirements:
- Be Enrolled in a BA or BSC degree in public relations, communication, or journalism
- Excellent understanding of various social media platforms including Facebook,
- Twitter, Instagram, and UTube
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Basic skills to track spending on sponsorships, events, and marketing materials
- Confident in interviewing fans
- The ability to prioritize your workload and keep to content deadlines
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Particulars:
- The program starts in May and runs through the end of July
- Over this period, you will be expected to work at least 200 hours
- An average of 20 hours per week on Friday, Saturday or Sunday

Pay periods are the 1st and 15th of each month. End of year bonuses will be paid based on merit.
