R00017692 Water Resource Project Engineer (Entry Level)

ERM is seeking a Water Resource Project Engineer to join our Water Resources, Climate Change and Modeling Group, reporting into our Malvern, PA office. Ewing, NJ and Annapolis, MD offices will also be considered. ERM’s Water Resources, Climate Change and Modeling Group helps our clients with their complex business-related challenges including business resilience in a climate-changed world. We develop and apply multi-dimensional models and risk assessment techniques across a wide variety of industries.  We also apply hydrological, hydrodynamic, flood, transport, and fate models to watersheds, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, estuaries, and coastal waterbodies to help our clients meet their compliance/permitting objectives as well as their sustainability and business continuity goals.
As a project engineer, you will contribute your technical skills and leadership to support the growth of ERM’s business and client base, while networking with ERM's global water resources technical team to share multi-disciplinary resources and best practices across the industry. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be part of multi-disciplinary teams of modelers to execute water and climate-related studies in support of client needs.
  • Assist in the data collection, analysis, reporting and client engagement to assess a wide variety of physical, regulatory, and reputational water stress factors and their business risk impacts.
  • Collect and analyze data to benchmark peer performance on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues, as well as assessing client ESG performance (e.g., overall strategy, goals, performance, and public disclosure/reporting).
  • Assist clients in the pursuit of certification from the Alliance for Water Stewardship.
  • Assist in the application of hydraulic and hydrologic models to natural and urban watersheds.
  • Apply flood risk models to study flood risks to natural and urban environments.
  • Use geospatial data analytics, related software (ArcGIS or similar), calculations and models to address impact, regulatory and climate change issues.
  • Acquire and process datasets, monitor model applications, perform supporting calculations, and document results.
  • Execute multiple projects within scope / schedule / budget expectations and ensure quality standards on deliverables.
  • Assist with climate change physical risk challenges through use data and models.  
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS/MS in Environmental or Civil Engineering or related field
  • Educational background in hydraulics, hydrology, statistics, and water resources.
  • Experience with hydraulic models including flood modeling tools (e.g., Flo2D, FloodModeller, HEC-RAS, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of a programming environment (e.g., FORTRAN, Visual Basic, C++, MATLAB, R, ArcMap) is an advantage.
  • Strong aptitude for and interest in problem solving, analytical thinking, and attention to details.
  • Excellent writing, communication, presentation, strategic thinking, and “people” skills.
  • Some experience with existing watershed or water quality model (e.g., SWAT, CE-QUAL-W2, EPA-SWMM, WMS).
