Engineering Intern - Mentor, OH.

Our Engineering Interns gain experience in the Service Engineering Team and the duties around product service requirements, developing and implementing service programs and deliverables for aftermarket support. With a focus on building an exceptional Customer Experience, this includes involvement in new product development to ensure products are designed for serviceability and service programs/ support are available at product release.

This internship experience will include:

  • Real world experiences in cross functional team collaboration, innovation and execution with an industry leading service team
  • Building knowledge and hands-on skills related to engineering team strategy, data driven success measures and building an exceptional Customer Experience.
  • Learning troubleshooting equipment problems, assist in determining best practices for troubleshooting/repairs, video shooting of troubleshooting/repairs, and video editing to produce video content for field technicians.
  • Supporting creation and documentation of procedures/processes, technical training and associated documentation.
  • Creating and interpreting data to improve product reliability, improve service delivery and service cost over the life of a product.
  • Assisting in investigating field issues to resolve immediate equipment problems and analyze root cause to help drive product design improvement and service routines/ process changes.
  • Reviewing electrical/plumbing schematics and equipment drawings/specifications to help with development of support tools, installation and service procedures and parts sourcing.
  • Assisting in providing technical and parts support to technicians in the field via a phone and possibly on-site.

Required Experience

  •  Minimum 2 years college coursework completed towards Bachelor’s program including courses in electrical, mechanical, or biomedical Engineering.
  • Drafting or courses in technical documentation focused on reading and using schematics and specifications for troubleshooting and parts sourcing.
  • Computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication.

Preferred Experience

  • Video editing and production experience a plus.
  • Writing/communication courses - Technical writing and communication courses not required but a plus.
  • Project management and data analysis courses a plus.
