Social Media Specialist, Publications and Content Strategy

Job Summary:
The social media specialist is a member of Gonzaga’s central Marketing and Communications team who works together with the department’s other social media specialist and senior director for content strategy and publications. The social media specialist has expertise in using social media channels effectively to support Gonzaga’s brand as well as enrollment, fundraising, and constituent engagement efforts. The specialist also assists social managers in other areas of Gonzaga in executing the best strategies to meet their goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • ​Proficiency in social media publishing for business accounts and analytical tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, advertising, English or related fields
  • Minimum of one years of recent experience in copywriting for social media
  • Demonstrated ability to manage social media sites including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat,
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize social media management tools such as Sprout
  • Demonstrated ability to shoot compelling photos and videos with mobile device
  • Understanding of sales/action funnel conversion: discovery, engagement, following, sales/action
  • Demonstrated mastery of Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of design/layout principles for social media platforms​

Desired Qualifications:
  • ​​Google Ad Words certification, Adobe product expertise
  • A year or more of experience in position(s) requiring high level social media content development and/or management
  • Training and experience utilizing professional photo and video cameras and equipment for creating compelling, engaging images and video for social media and web
  • Basic skills with visual design software such as Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Demonstrated record of innovative problem solving, and flexible, effective leadership skills
  • Ability and experience using a web content management system
  • Experience working in higher education​
