Energy Engineering - Supercharger Charging Applications Engineering Internship (Fall 2023)

What to Expect
Disclaimer: This position is expected to start around August or September 2023 and continue through the entire Fall term (i.e. through December) or into Winter/Spring 2024 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, in-person. Please consider before submitting an application. 
 
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. Again, please do not apply until you know you can work 40 hours per week. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the team  
The Supercharging network, the world’s fastest electric vehicle charging network which includes over 24,000 Superchargers worldwide, is a critical enabler to Tesla’s mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. The Business Analytics intern is an integral part of global Charging business planning team and is responsible for providing data and insights on network performance.  
What You’ll Do
Project responsibilities will be in 3 categories:   

Applications Engineering intern expected to prepare global field charging infrastructure deployment teams for new charging products coming to market early 2022. This would involve interfacing with design engineers to acquire produce expert knowledge, then deliver critical technical information via presentations, training sessions, and technical documentation to deployment teams. Some in-field support will also be needed, overseeing initial deployment trials.   

Technical Program Management intern expected to lead a cross-function group toward the goal of coordinated field retrofit operations in early 2022. Several new products subcomponents need to be integrated into existing infrastructure. This intern will run a technical program to coordinate amongst engineering, deployment, service, logistics, etc. teams to successfully execute retrofit initiatives.   

Product Management intern expected to analyze new product/feature opportunities and consolidate a holistic picture of impact to Tesla. This would include technical scoping of products/features with engineering counterparts, cost/benefit analysis, and construction of technical pitch decks to promote the concepts.  
What You’ll Bring
  • Pursuing BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Materials Engineering 
  • Strong communications skills

  • Strong project management skill preferred  
  • Strong analytical skillset preferred  
  • Experience with energy systems (charging products, battery products, solar) or power electronics preferred  
  • Experience with construction preferred
