Associate Interconnection Engineer

Pine Gate Renewable (PGR) is seeking an Associate Interconnection Engineer who is interested in a solar and storage development strategy role. This role will manage the interconnection process of utility scale solar and energy storage projects at various development stages and collaborate with Project Siting, EPC, and Operations teams. The successful candidate will also provide any required support to Development, Project Finance, EPC, and Operations during Financing of the projects.


What You’ll Do

  • The position will both lead and support as needed by internal stakeholders leading to the successful execution of both new and acquired projects across the United States.
  • Assist with leading the interconnection process of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects from start to finish, including initial application, study process, ISO registration, interconnection schedule. Development, and assisting with commissioning requirements.
  • Work with Development Project Managers to ensure all relevant milestones are met, and communications with Transmission Owners and ISOs are clear and timely.
  • Help implement the optimal interconnection strategy taking into consideration: cost, schedule, plant design, and operations.
  • Work closely with Transmission planners and Electrical Engineering to submit and get approval for any design changes for the project, such as inverter change, transformer change, etc., from ISO and the Utility.
  • Maintain access and certificates for portals such as RIOO, MIS, RIMS, etc., that are needed for submission of the documents for ISO’s approvals.


About You

  • Attend necessary utility and ISO / RTO project-specific and stakeholder meetings.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Understanding of solar and storage design components and three-phase power fundamentals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-functional environment.
  • Experience managing dynamic workflow and multiple projects.
  • Excellent written, spoken, and presentation communication skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable commercial agility; ability to reorder critical analysis projects based on new commercial requirements under tight deadlines and sometimes changing requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Preferred technical background includes experience in PV and storage design and/or generator interconnection process.
  • New or recent college graduate as of Fall 2022.
