Electrical Engineer Intern

The intern will work with an experienced Electrical Engineer to help provide engineering support for projects, primarily focusing on power distribution and lighting systems for laboratory, office, data center, hospital, and various other types of building. 
 
We’re seeking driven college students interested in MEP who:
  • Want to learn from senior MEP Engineers in HVAC, Plumbing, Fire & Protection, Electrical and Sustainability
  • Able to work in our Alpharetta, GA office the fall of 2023
 
Responsibilities
 
  • Preparing plans using AutoCAD or Revit
  • Perform basic calculations, including lighting calculations using computer software (Litepor, AGI or Visual)
  • Design calculations including panel / load schedules, branch circuit wiring, voltage drop, generations, etc.
  • Prepare information for inclusion in engineering reports, construction phase and research industry standards for engineering guidelines
  • Assist with documentation
  • Receive and follow through with specific or technical instructions
  • Participate and contribute to a team effort, exchanging ideas and recommending improvements
  • Support, reviewing shop drawings and providing general construction phase support
  • Evaluate code compliance 
  • Demonstrate adequate verbal and written communication skills
  • Attend client meetings as necessary
 
 
Preferred Skills
 
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering or Construction-related major
  • A high level of interest with MEP systems relating to construction
  • Exposure to Revit, AGI, Visual or similar lighting calculation software a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong initiative and problem solving abilities
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC) and power engineering concepts a plus
