Mechanical Engineer - Mechanics R&D

Position Summary

Mainstream Engineering Corporation is seeking mechanical engineers to contribute to a diverse set of Mechanics programs involving technology such as: turbomachinery (e.g., compressors, turbines, and pumps), diesel engines and/or generators, component manufacture, and ruggedized test systems. Each R&D engineer is responsible for developing prototypes and releasing products; therefore, the successful candidate must be hands-on and have the ability to test and critically evaluate designs. We are seeking applicants at B.S. and M.S. degree levels with specific experience or interest in, but not limited to, any of the following areas:

  • Mechanical/CAD design experience, particularly design for manufacturing: machined parts, metal forming, molding, additive manufacturing, rapid-prototyping
  • Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting, with sensor and instrumentation
  • Hands-on experience with engine design, modeling, and/or testing

Position Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  • GPA > 3.3 at all degree levels
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to U.S. Government ITAR restrictions
  • Solid understanding of machine design and CAD/CAM
  • Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2009) for manufacturing (preferred)
  • Experience with INVENTOR, ANSYS/FLUENT, COMSOL, MATLAB, and LABVIEW is a plus
