Early Career Rotational Associate - Engineering

Location: This is a national rotation program. At least one rotation will be completed at the Global Corporate Headquarters in Charlotte, NC. Other rotation locations include but are not limited to: Vista, CA; Statesville, NC; Klamath Falls, OR, and Dallas, TX.
Reports to: Early Career Program Team & Assigned Manager in Engineering
Tentative Start Date: June 12, 2023
 
ABOUT THE ROLE
 
The JELD-WEN Early Career Rotational Program empowers talented new graduates to explore different roles and specialties in one of six strategic business areas. This position is focused on the Engineering business area. The program offers rotations through the various aspects of Engineering in order to enhance and grow awareness of how Engineering drives business priorities. The program also provides over 200 hours of professional development, mentoring and networking opportunities to grow participant’s future leadership potential. Upon completion of the two-year program, successful participants will be selected for critical roles within the JELD-WEN Global Engineering team. 
During this two-year rotational program, participants will move through four, six-month rotations all within the Global Engineering function. Each rotation provides the opportunity to learn and experience a different aspect of the employee lifecycle, and develops greater awareness of the interactions between employees, leaders, organizational culture, and engineering teammates. The program’s goal is to build a pipeline of Engineering talent who understand and are exposed to multiple aspects of this discipline. Potential Engineering rotations include: 

  • Product Sustaining Engineering  
  • Automation Engineering 
  • Research & Development (R&D) Engineering 
  • Continuous Improvement Engineering
  • Plant Manufacturing Engineering
  • Environmental/Automation Fiber/Equipment & Diesel Engineering
 
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Examples of opportunities that Rotational Associates have received in the past are:
  • Manage projects start to finish such as getting quotes, assigning work and managing people to meet deadlines, being at site for assembly to give direction and guidance, handling logistics and delivery issues.
  • Gain experience with high-speed servo applications and variable frequency drives.
  • Design, plan, and execute experiments to improve process performance and build fundamental understand of key process variables.
  • Garner a basic understanding of environmental regulations impacting JELD-WEN operations.
  • Use statistical software such as Minitab to run data analysis and garner info on variation, CPK values, etc.
  • Create and update engineering drawings for doors and windows.
  • Perform testing, validation and reliability analysis to minimize risk and achieve a high level of quality assurance.
  • Be readily available on the plant floor to answer questions about machines, productivity, output, maintenance and serve as a role model that operators can go to with complaints about machines, etc.
  • Contribute to test plans, equipment development, installations and procurement.
SKILLS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE
  Required
  • Bachelor’s degree (expected graduation date Winter 2022 or Spring 2023) in a relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated work ethic and detail-orientation 
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills 
  • Ability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment and produce high-quality work 
  • Collaboration and teamwork 
  • Leadership experience and relationship-building skills 
Recommended
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 
  • Relevant internship or previous experience in Engineering or a corporate environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
