Intern, Communications & Advocacy (Vaccine Acceptance & Demand)

Reports to: Senior Manager, Stakeholder Partnerships (Vaccine Acceptance & Demand)
 
Location: Remote Work (only in CO, DC, DE, FL, GA, IL, LA, MA, MD, MI, NC, NE, NH, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, VA, WA)

Position Snapshot:
 
The Intern, Communications & Advocacy, supports a variety of the team’s advocacy-related partnerships and activities of the Vaccine Acceptance & Demand team.

Responsibilities:
 
Program Support
  • Represent Sabin at relevant coalitions/meetings/webinars and identify program opportunities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation with communications materials, including social media, graphics, and other promotional materials.
  • Support content creation.
  • Assist with pulling website, social media and other metrics as assigned.
  • Conduct media monitoring, including tracking of stories produced by journalists engaged with the program and of advocacy and learning activities of health workers, as well as testimonials of program participants.
  • Work with team members to track program outreach.
  • Other administrative support as needed.
 
Requirements:
 
  • Current college student in a related discipline, such as communications, journalism, global/public health, public policy, international relations, or another relevant field.
  • Relevant coursework or experience, preferably in global health, public health, social science, journalism/media (reporting and/or engagement), or international relations/development.
  • Demonstrated communications, social media, or website assistance experience or coursework.
  • Proficiency in core Microsoft 365 applications; experience WordPress with graphic creation platforms such as Canva, Spark or InDesign a plus.
  • Demonstrated success drafting, proofreading and editing complex documents.
  • Close attention to detail, ability to manage complex tasks; highly organized, flexible and able to prioritize in order to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communications skills (listening, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Must be available for 10-25 hours per week during the summer semester (June to August 2023). May starting dated is possible.
