Position Summary
This individual serves as Band faculty, fulfilling all duties for Lower, Middle, and Upper School Band classes, supporting the Band Directors and teaching French Horn sectionals. This position also supervises Performing Arts students at evening concerts, chapels, assemblies, and special school events. This position is required to participate in the annual Lower School Performing Arts Explorations and in the Upper and Middle School Music Performance Assessments. This position also has the potential to be configured to include Band Director responsibilities. Starting salary will be $50,000 and will increase based on experience and education credentials.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach students in French Horn in Lower School Grade 4 Band, Grade 5 Band, Middle School Beginning, Concert, and Advanced Bands, and Upper School Symphonic Band.
  • Manage all Saint Andrew’s Band instrument rentals.
  • Collaborate with the Band Directors and colleagues to develop and implement the curriculum, including repertoire selection.
  • Support Band students at all co-curricular events, as directed by the Director of Performing Arts. These may include concerts on or off campus, Music Performance Assessments, Band Trips, or Band Festivals.
  • Support Band students in school performances including but not limited to assembly performances, chapels, Admissions, or Advancement events.
  • Participate in Tri-M Music Honor Society as a Co-Sponsor with the Band Director.
  • Provide support to the US Pep Band and Band Director with regular attendance at rehearsals and performances. 
  • Provide sectional instruction as appropriate for all LS, MS, and US French Horn students.
  • Provide extra help to Band students.
  • Regularly attend all Division, Department, Band, and Production meetings.
  • Serve as an advisor.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School and Director of Performing Arts.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred 
  • At least three (3) years teaching French Horn/Band in an independent school or equivalent experience 
  • A willingness to collaborate
  • Cross Cultural competence
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Clear written and oral communication skill
