Supervisory Technical Editor

The Defense Intelligence Agency provides intelligence on foreign militaries to prevent and decisively win wars. We are looking for talented individuals to develop solutions that advance DIA’s premier intelligence in support of America’s national defense. Officers in the Office Management & Infrastructure enable the effective and efficient day-to-day operations to accomplish the mission.
 
POSITION SUMMARY. Serves as a first-level supervisor and Technical Editor/advisor on matters pertaining to day-to-day operations or management of programs. Exercises technical and administrative supervision over a team of specialists and ensures that programs meet requirements based on a comprehensive knowledge of the full scope of principles, concepts, and techniques for complex editing projects (those involving technical areas encompassing fine points of interpretation, complex interrelationships, etc.). Comprehends Agency strategic vision and institutes effective organizational and individual performance metrics that leads to statistical reports and analysis, as necessary. Identifies and obtains resources (i.e., staff, funds, space, and equipment) to accomplish program goals. Utilizes basic contracting knowledge to review and monitor contracts to ensure requirements are being met in a timely manner. The incumbent educates authors on ways to improve their products envisioning and proposing solutions to satisfy customer requirements. Guides the production of assigned branch or division and evaluates all-source information. Represents respective office in meetings and on communication boards or panels.
 
ASSESSMENT FACTORS.
  • 3-5+years of professional experience OR Bachelor’s degree or professional certificate in English, journalism, scientific, technical, or social science, communications from an accredited institution and at least one course above the introductory level in the field(s) covered by the position.
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills to compose and deliver responses to complex questions in a clear, concise, and organized manner.
  • Conducts oversight and review to ensure information services and products comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies in area of responsibility.
  • Prioritizes and monitors the completion of information projects by ensuring the quality of work adheres to established standards and that resources are used effectively.
HIGHLY DESIRED.
  • Thorough knowledge of proper classification markings in accordance with Security Markings Guidance (formerly CAPCO).
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite or other graphic design software.
