POSITION: Construction Engineering Intern

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for an engineering internship in our Burlington or Milwaukee, Wisconsin offices. This on-the job experience will support the firm’s construction, water and wastewater departments by participating in the field observation and design of a variety of facilities and offer the opportunity to work directly with firm clients. A variety of responsibilities and duties will provide a well-rounded background in engineering.
POSITION DUTIES:
  • Construction services associated with quantity computation, survey, and construction inspection.
  • Observe, measure, and document construction activities.
  • Field work, studies, and design of water and wastewater system rehabilitation.
  • Assisting senior engineers with the evaluation, study, and design of water and wastewater treatment plants, potable water and wastewater pipelines and pumping stations.
 
Other Duties May Include:
  • Working with our Natural Resources department to complete all aspects of restoration work which includes construction, planting, seeding, erosion control methods, brush cutting, and herbicide application.
  • Work with the Natural Resources department as a maintenance crew member. When working as a maintenance crew member, operation of mechanical hand tools such as weed whippers, chain saws, and/or brush mowers will be required.
  • Work completed for the Natural Resources department will be done for municipalities, subdivisions, and private clients.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ongoing pursuit of a 4-year degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in environmental engineering preferred.
  • Maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0/4.0.
  • Available to start May 2023.
  • Ability to travel throughout Southeast Wisconsin area (own transportation).
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, computer and organizational skills.
