PAID INTERNSHIP - Marketing Intern [Waterloo Arts]

This year is the 20th anniversary of Waterloo Arts and in the fall, we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Waterloo Arts Fest which is the neighborhoods largest annual event. We will spend the summer working with a community steering committee to plan the event and with artists and students to create artwork and engaging programming for the festival.  Communicating and updating the public about these preparations and other festival programming is an important part of making this event a success, especially during this anniversary year.   

Waterloo Arts is seeking an intern who is excited to be part of our festival team and who will help us with marketing the event and other summer programs. Tasks may include writing press releases, creating social media content, website updates, sponsor acknowledgements, e-newsletters.  

Intern Responsibilities
  • The intern will learn to work in a team, managing a large project together.
  • The intern will learn to communicate with other team members on a regular basis in order to get festival updates and create engaging media content.

Intern Requirements: 
  • Student should have excellent written communication skills and a good sense of design. 
  • Good computer skills and familiarity with photoshop and design software.  
  • Experience with various social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.  
  • Be self-driven and able to work in a collaborative, relaxed atmosphere.  
  • Photography and videography skills would be beneficial. 
  • Willing to work some flex hours for weekend or evening events.
