China Brief Summer Internship
Position Title: China Brief Summer Internship
The Jamestown Foundation, Washington, DC
The Jamestown Foundation is seeking a China Brief intern for summer 2023 (approximately May 30 -August 15). The intern will support the Editor-in-Chief of China Brief in preparing and disseminating the bi-weekly publication. Duties include editing, assisting the editor in outreach to the China policy community, researching topics related to China’s domestic and international affairs, as well as assisting the Jamestown Foundation with organizing special conferences and events. The ideal candidate will be a current undergraduate or graduate school student with a deep interest in East Asian affairs and strong Chinese language skills.
Requirements:
- Close attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with minimal oversight.
- Good research skills and a solid understanding of political/security/economic developments and trends in China, US-China relations, and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
- Strong editing skills in order to assist the Editor-in-Chief in publishing the Jamestown Foundation’s biweekly publication, China Brief.
- Must be physically located in the Washington, DC, area and be able to work at the Jamestown office in downtown Washington at least three days per week.
- Be able to devote a minimum of between 20 to 25 hours a week to assist the China Brief Editor and help out on other ongoing Jamestown projects.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken language at the level of a native English speaker.
- A strong presence on social media and/or familiarity with social media platforms and outreach tools such as MailChimp.
- Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese preferred.
