KC Library Civic Engagement Coordinator AmeriCorps VISTA
The Kansas City Public Library is a doorway to knowledge for all. It not only provides books and movies for people to check out, but it also is a community hub that connects people with quality information and resources. The Civic Engagement program at the library includes coordinating media literacy and news literacy resources and events, connecting Kansas Citians with tools, coordinating tax preparation information, as well as connecting patrons with legal and government information and resources.
Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA member will build the capacity to expand civic education and initiatives to improve literacy in the community through various activities including program support, planning and coordination, creating and distributing digital and printed promotional materials, and social media marketing. This position will combat information poverty by providing access to quality information and resources to Library patrons.
